Where do the numbers come from?
From Gekkon live data: rent from active listings, food from venue menus. No blog averages. Food: average prices from 121 288 menu items at 2685 venues. Profiles: budget = coffee + rice + noodles; mid-range = coffee + smoothie + pho + seafood; restaurant = coffee + smoothie + seafood twice. A kid’s day = porridge + soup + ice cream + juice from the same menus.
Why is my number higher or lower?
The calculator shows the average case: half of the options are cheaper, half are more expensive. Living in a room or in the west is cheaper, a beach house is pricier.
What is not included?
Entertainment, transport and deposit. Utilities in the check are an estimate: power, water and internet depend on AC and the place. The planner computes day transport on the itineraries page.
